St Joseph's is a Parish in the South West Edinburgh Cluster, consisting of St Cuthberts, St John Ogilvie's, St Joseph's and Our Lady Mother of the Church.
The Archbishop has released this update, in January 2018. "Before finally deciding on the way forward for our parishes, the Law of the Church provides that I must now hear the Council of Priests (can. 515, §2). Once this has been done, I will let you know what has been decided and then we can communicate it all to the people. I do not anticipate that there will be much that you do not expect since we have discussed it at length at the deanery meetings. However, as you know, some of what must be done will be difficult for a number of our communities and I so rely on you to sustain and encourage them through this time of change. I’ll keep you and your parishes fully informed as I endeavour carefully to take things forward."
In January 2016, Archbishop Cushley issued a resource booklet entitled "Cluster Parishes Together Handbook" (PDF version available on the right). The Handbook has been provided to assist discussion within parishes and clusters during the next stage of the consultation process on the reorganisation of the Archdiocese.
As requested, all the parishes in our cluster were involved in a series of meetings, 22nd September 2016, 3rd November 2016 and 8 December 2016, designed to discuss the opportunities and challenges we anticipate over the coming months and years.
The final report from all of these meetings was sent to the Archbishop by Father Quinlan OMI, Senior Priest in our cluster, in April 2017, and was made available to parishes soon after. A copy can be found below, along with a copy of the notes taken at each of the individual meetings.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? The Archbishop now has to study all the reports from across the Archdiocese and make a decision.
